Government records

Guest (Querist) 17 June 2011 This query is : Resolved
I want record related to a rehabilitation colony (Model Town, Ludhiana) eastablished about 64 years earlier. The allotment letter doesn't mentions the alloted area of the house. The concerned department says that the records have been stolen and in the absence of records they are unable to give the record of actuall area alloted to the particular property no.
they also says that they were having one register regarding the same, which during some litigation was handed over to the additional advocate general and that neither that register is in high court nor with the additional advocate general.
I require the record or any document stating that the so and so number alloted was having such and such area.
How can i pursue the matter through RTI or any other means. Please guide.

there is no need to give a personal visit to the officials there.

they are habitual to avoid work, so simply send an application under RTI to the competent authority. The authority is duty bound to provide you with the information. It is a matter of common sense that while making such an allotment the documents are prepared by various departments and relevant record must be available at different levels.

missing record from AG office seems to be an excuse.

Mr. Kiran Kumar IS RIGHT.PROCEED UNDER R.T.I ACT.THINGS WILL COME TO LIGHT.AND IF THE RECORDS ARE REALLY STOLEN THEN AREA POSSESSED BY YOU SINCE LONG IN YOUR USE IS THE AREA ALLOTTED TO YOU WOULD BE THE PRESUMPTION.
