How to get farmer status LEGALLY?

Hi,
My name is Jestin George, 38 years old, and a salaried person working in Mumbai. I am a permanent resident of Mumbai.
I want to buy 1 or 2 acres agricultural land in Maharashtra "LEGALLY" for setting up a second home and growing trees, fruits and vegetables PURELY as hobby farming and not for sale.
No one from my father or mother's side are farmers. I might have relatives who are farmers but i cannot expect them to help me.
My question is: What is the procedure to get farmer status LEGALLY?
i dont mind if the procedure is lengthy. i only want to ensure that it is PERFECTLY LEGAL IN ALL RESPECTS.

Dear Mr. Jestin,
Your question is very difficult for answer. However, nothing is impossible. You have to make good arrangement to get legal status of farmer.
1st you find out a reletive who has an agricultural land and having very old age. Thenafter convience him for giving you his some part of agricultural land throgh will. You do not forget to register this will. After his death the said land will transfer to your name absolutely legally.
Otherwise you may make arrangement to purchase the agricultural land through registered will. In this case agricultural land will transfer after death only.
