Ld Counsels,
Is there any pre-requisite condition that there should be atleast 2 witness statments should be obtained before filing chargesheet in a case of cognizable offense. Kindly clarify if there is any such prequisite to file a chargesheet.

i think there is no such pre- condition. but if you could give some back ground to th case then only the matter can be elaborated. Basically, chargesheet is he investigation report filed by the police. and it does not require any no. of witnesses.it is the investigation in the matter an d only persons concerened are investigated. after that the court takes cognizance an d frames the charges.

there is no such legal requirement. there should be some convincing evidence.

If someone is assaulted in late hours of night when he is walking alone, does law expect that he should bring second witness? Certainly no. So law does not require that there should be two witnesses.
