Dear Sir
I have an urgency to obtain a birth certificate. Since I was staying abroad, I got a birth certificate issued by the Indian consulate based on my passport. Now for that certificate to be accepted abroad I need it to be apostilled.
Since it is already attested by the Indian consulate, do I have to go to some office again in Delhi to get it re-verified (as mentioned on the site) or can I go directly to the Ministry of External Affairs in Patiala House? Are there any other places where I can get this apostilled from? If I need it to be verified where can I go?
Regards,
Krishi

Dear Krishi,
when it is attested by the Indian consulate, you do not need re-verified.

As per my knowledge you need apostille. Before apostille, authentication from the regional office (in the place where the certifiate has been issued) has to get.I am thinking Ministry of External Affairs have its office at Chennai,Hydrabad and Calcatta to issue apostille stamps.there are local agencies are there to do this work.but it is very expensive. If you are going directly you have to pay 50 rupees only per certificate .For more details you can visit www.hcch.net or http://appostille4u.com

Thank you Pawan Sharma, Uma Parameswaran and S.Subramanian.
I did not need a re-verification of the document and got it apostilled from Patiala House.
Thank you all for the replies.
