Name changed 5 yrs ago but could not adopt it officialy

Dear experts,
5 yrs ago due to some domestic issues I changed my name from X to Y and I got it notrised and also gazetted. But I couldn't officially adopt that new name "Y" as I was not able to mentally detach my self from my previous name "x".
Now that I'm using my previous name X,
I need to know what shall happen now?
(1) Should I keep using my previous name X?
or
(2) Should I start using my new name Y?
I have recently got an offer from abroad and I'm in a dilemma what to do now as my passport is in my previous name X only.
Kindly guide!

Hi,
In order to avail the opportunity at your dsiposal , get yiour documents ( all ) in order as per the correct/changed name .
Your attachment to previous name, will certainly be of no help.
As in the eyes of law, your name stands changed .
Pls. Apply to the concerned departments for the name change along with the gazetted/notified document.. It will act as a proof of the bonafide .

but, is it normal to get the name change done after 5 yrs? any special procedure to follow or any additional document in support of my request to allow me to use the new name?

Hi,
As you have already changed your name and gazetted the same, legally your changed name is your identification.
Apply and get your name changed in all the related records.

There is nothing wrong in applying for change of name even after 5 years of changing it. You can apply for change of name of PAN Aadhar EPIC or passport on the basis of the gazette publication.
You can proceed.
