what is the period for retention of ex-employees by the company under EPF Act, is there any judgement pertaining to this query

Though, to me,query is not clear but if it relates to only retention of employees, in my opinion, there seems to be no provision under the EPF Act, if it relates to retention of PF a/c, it is handled by EPFO and no interest is to be paid if the a/c is inoperative during the last three years.
