Has the employer issued any communication in writing?
The purpose of employer is apparently to convey VERBALLY that position and employee both have becme redundant.
If NO then it wants the employees to leave on their own with/without notice and square off the dues.
Do not stop attending office.
Let employer issue notice to all employees. If it does not record the verbal statement and put the minutes in writing to good offices and build a favorable record to claim Lay off/Retrenchment compensation. You can also approach o/o Labor commissioner………………
Check if it has submitted notice of closure to o/o Labor Commissioner.
You are entitled for Gratuity.
You may also be eligible for notice pay of 1 month and compensation @15days wages /year f service.
For the the Lay off/Retrenchment compensation refer to appointment letter, standing orders, service rules and regulations.................
If the company has more than 100 employees, you may go thru: V B of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947
It shall be appropriate to approach a labor consultant/service lawyer at your location.
