Pf account disclosure

Hi all Members,

I have resigned from my job in April 25 first week. Some of the facts are given as under :

1. My salary is below taxable limit.

2. I have withdrawn my PF after completing 2.5 years in my job, PF amount was Rs 1,10,000/-.

3.The PF amount was directly credited to my savings account which was staff account earlier.

4.I have Checked 26AS, AIS,TIS and also Form 16. Nowhere PF withdrawn amount is showing.

5. ITR - 2 is applicable to me.

My Query is -

1. Do I need to show PF withdrawn amount in my ITR ? IF Yes, then where to show in ITR and what amount should be shown - My contribution or employer contribution or interest on PF or any other combination.

EPF withdrawals made after completing five years of continuous service, including those made after retirement, are generally tax-free.

Premature withdrawals (within 5 years of opening the account) may attract TDS if the amount is above Rs. 50,000.

Further, please note that:

PF withdrawn amount should be shown in ITR-1 as

  1. employee contribution + employer contribution + interest on employer contribution as income from salary

  2. interest on employee contribution as income from other sources.
