Hi,
What is the purpose of cross examination for Maintainance case?
My wife filed maintainance case, expecting 25000/monthly. I am ready to pay little amount, last week her lawyer invited for a cross examin her for the same.
As I am in UK, I can't involve in that matter directly.
Can some one let me know what is the purpose of cross examine and how my lawyer can cross examine her.

In the cross examination lawyer ask the party why case is filed.... why wife need that much amount.... why wife is not earning.... why wife hide required information....
Lawyer shows to the court that wife/husband is lying.... etc....
The above activites are part of crss examination, that is the oppertunity to question and show the facts to the court to pass judgement.
