Space is governed by five key international treaties, known informally as the Outer Space Treaty, the Rescue Agreement, the Liability Convention, the Registration Convention, and the Moon Agreement (informal names ).

Article 1 of the Outer Space Treaty says that space including the Moon and other heavenly bodies is free for access by all conditions of the Treaty the exercises identified with the investigation of room.It unmistakably expresses that no nation can guarantee such property rights on the Moon.

Article V of the Outer Space Treaty expresses that "States Parties to the Treaty will view space travelers as agents of humankind in space and will deliver to them all conceivable help with the occasion of mishap, trouble, or crisis arriving on the region of another State Party or on the high oceans”.
