Oral/verbal statement as witness...will it work

The person on whose name the property is passed away.  If his wife gives a statement that it was the wish of her husband that the property should go to her male child and not to the daughters, will that work as evidence enough for the son to claim the whole property?

No.  It wont work. How cruel.  If son eats everything, what will daughters eat?  No wonder we have women favouring laws in our country, women is still suppressed segment.

Unless every thing is reduced in writing legally, nothing works.  If it is ancestral property of Hindu, even those oral statements fail, as he is not absolute owner of the property, and is just a sharer.
