Equal rights in property for a daughter

Do daughters have equal rights in the property in karnataka state. Few properties are self acquired by my father.Presently in my father's name. One property given to my mother by my grandfather Now in my mothers name.My parents are keen to transfer everything to my brother, and his family. Can I still acquire the share . Parents still alive. But this is their plan. will they need  my signature for this. Please advice as it would be much appreciated.

Dear Querist,

Daughters also have equal right in ancessostral property only but person is free to make , sale, gift or sell his self acquired property to anyone.in your case the property is elf aquired by your father so you cant claim any right over it.However if your father die without making any will then you can claim your share in it .No you even dont claim any right over your mothers property. No they dont need your signature for anything.Feel free to call if you have left any query.

ancestral property be cannot be sold without consent of successors in case of major and in in case of minority you might have to take permission from the court. And if property disposed without consent can be reclaimed.
