Friend not returning monwy

my friend was in trouble so i had taken a loan from bank to help him. i had transfer money through UPI and i taken check from him he has failed to paid first emi and im a student i can't pay the emi. so i want to know legal procedure to act against him and how much it will cost the amount is 1.5 lac which i had given him. and i also have what's app messages.

first of all you should not have been so negligent...secondly if it is a case of fraud then file an fir so that investigation can be done by the police authority and do hire a lawyer for case of such nature.

You may try to encash the cheque; if the cheque is dishonored, you have the option to proceed under the NI Act.
