Hi, im here to seek some professional guidance about a friend of mine. She is 31yrs and got married in June 2008 and had been in relationship with her husband for 6 months. In this course of time, she was harassed, tortured mentally and also was s*xually harassed by her husband and inlaws. Following which, she got separated from him. She presently lives in India working in a firm, while her husband currently lives in Kuwait with most of his family who are settled there.
She has lodged a complaint with the police under dowry case( or act) and already her case is being handled by a lawyer since August last year. And it will be 1 year to their seperation come August this year.
She feels her case hasnt been going well so far. As her husband has not been intimated from the court yet. Her lawyer had informed her not file a divorce case (saying it would be wrong) and she just wants a final settlement for all the things that was given to her during marriage and all the expenses incurred by her parents. She was informed by her lawyer, that the case will be settled within 2 years. After which she can live her separate life.
I personally dont understand why her lawyer denied to file a divorce case. If somebody could please help us with any vital information would be much appreciated.
She has submitted all her necessary documents to the police station and to the court.
My second question is, can i be in relationship with this woman as we love eachother. Im a divorcee too.
Would there be any kind of risk for me legally if i continue my relationship with her during the continuation of her case.
