study leave

Suppose a govt employee or a PSU employee with UG qualification takes persmisson.. and goes for postgraduation study.... after completing study tenurs he fails in passing pg exam.. Can he join his running job ...and conginue it or je has to wait till passing PG exam to return to his job..??
