Dear sir,
My father and mother are staying in a rental house in Kundapur Udupi dist. Karantaka and recently father was hospitalized due to severe pain in his left thigh due to bacteria infection and he had to undergo a surgery. He is 75 years old. Due to his ill health condition we wanted him to shift from his present house which is in 1st floor to a ground floor house.
When we instructed the house owner on 1st Jan 14 about vacating house by 31st Jan the demand came from house owner to pay additional rent for two months of Feb and Mar 14. They said they will deduct total 3 months rent as notice period. There is no clause in rental agreement on notice period duration and also they did not renew the rental agreement since Jul 13.
Just before vacating the house the house owner who is in a manager position in PSU Bank and his wife started calling my father who was in hospital undergone the surgery and also my mother and started harassing for paying the additional two months rent. Before that I had discussed with this couple and clearly told them not to call and disturb my father for money related demands but they were so adament that they started repeatedly calling them and harassed for money.
Till then I was ready for some compromise from our end but looking at this money mindness and not having humanity to disturb a very senior person admitted to hospital and torturing him and my mother for money.
Now we have vacated the house but did not handover the keys. We sent red.post A/D letter to him mentioning that we have vacated the house and he is free to collect the keys by refunding the appropriate money.
Please let me know what kind of action we can take on house owner regarding above.
