ICSI TO LAUNCH COURSES IN COMPETITION LAW, CORPORATE RESTRUC

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) plans to introduce post membership qualification courses in competition law as well as corporate restructuring and insolvency in the next six months. Addressing reporters here, Anil Murarka, vice president, ICSI said, “We are going to roll out two new courses for our members in the next six months- one in competition law and the other in corporate restructuring and insolvency.” The institute's courses in competition law and corporate restructuring are capacity building courses and they are designed for the working professionals. The pedagogy for these courses will be in the form of seminars, video-conferencing and online inputs provided by ICSI to the participants of the courses from time to time. This apart, ICSI will also facilitate regular interaction with eminent faculty drawn from the industry. ICSI has also come out with ten secretarial standards and has requested the Union ministry of corporate affairs to make it mandatory for all companies to comply with these standards. ICSI is looking at the possibility of opening two overseas chapters in Dubai and Qatar, said Murarka. Presently, the institute has 68 chapters across the country, including seven chapters in eastern India. Over 1.5 lakh students are enrolled in ICSI's company secretary ship course.
