Can we correct a sale deed without having to pay registration charges again?

If we have a 9 month old sale deed but there was an error in the deed (just in the details of the ancestry of the property, no errors in the price value, descripttion of property etc) can we correct the sale deed without having to cancel the old sale deed and submit a new one? Since that would require us to pay registration charges again. Alternatively, can we submit an amendment to that sale deed that says xyz in the sale deed is incorrect and this corrects that? All this is with mutual agreement between the seller and the buyer.

Quick Summary
If a sale deed contains minor errors, such as inaccuracies in property ancestry details but not in price or description, it's often possible to correct it without cancelling the original deed. A 'rectification deed' can be registered to amend these minor mistakes. Crucially, if the changes don't affect the sale consideration or stamp duty, you'll typically only need to pay registration charges for the rectification deed, not full re-registration fees.

If there is no alteration to the sale consideration value nor it affects the stamp duty, then the rectification deed would involve just the registratrion charges alone, you can proceed with the registered rectification deed to rectify this minor error.

Yes.  If the errors/mistakes that occurred are minor mistakes you can go for rectification of the same by paying the registration fees only.
