Sale of property

Hi All,

Recenlty i was approached by a buyer for my property.

This property was purchased by my great grand uncle under a sales deed and acquired by my grandmother under HUF as my great grand uncle had no heirs. This property was passed to me by will.

Now the buyer insists there ought to be a mother deed. My defence is that i have a sales deed and a will and that there is no need for a mother deed. Please help me understand if i am correct.

Thanks.

There should be some link documents and a connection to the original deed.  Depending on the possession and mutation records of public authorities, purchaser need not insist and with a Public Notice through advertisement he can purchase the property.

However, many purchasers want to get the property at cheaper rate, finding out some flaws and thus creating some fears.  Wait for right buyer instead of disposing the property at a throw away price merely on such apprehensions.
