I had paid stamp duty of 318000 and 30000 as registration charge of my house. the registration process is not done only duty is paid on 30.7.2020. the stamp duty rates have reduced from 5% to 2% .can I ask for difference of 3% or if not can I ask for cancelation of 5%paid and pay fresh duty of 2% for same flat? if yes what would be the deduction
You cannot ask for a difference of Stamp duty paid. But you shall cancel it and submit an application for a refund of stamp duty. Generally, up to 10% will be deducted and the remaining will be paid. You have to submit an application within 6 months from the date of 30.07.2020.
