Replica of the Constitution of India (First Edition)

For the past 3 years, Volunteers at the Chennai Tricolor Initiative have been working on this effort to create a near perfect replica of the First Edition of the Constitution of India. The effort came about as we realized that a large number of the general population have never seen a constitution book before (most students believe it is just the preamble page that they've seen in their textbooks) and the replicas that have been created by the Government have been less than perfect - most cases the cover art has been smudged beyond recognition.

So this remastering effort began as a way to ensure that both present and future generations of India will get to see the start of what was this beautiful vision for a country named India.

The Plan henceforth is two parts:

1. We are making limited prints available. However they are only available only for donors. The Trust engages in activities like doing sessions with students on the constitution, the constitution debates, building debate clubs, activities to engage in public spaces, and a pledge to be a responsible citizen. The Trust is 100% volunteer-run.

PS: There are two versions being made - a hardcover version which will be as close to the original as possible and a leatherbound collector's edition (with the pages replicated and embellished with gold lines - as was in the mastercopy). The Picture below is the hardcover version.

2. We do plan to make copies for School and Public Libraries at cost (once we can get a sense of the demand), so that every student and public who wishes to see a copy of the constitution would get a chance to do so.

We have invested our personal money into this effort so far and do not plan to reimburse ourselves for it. All proceeds go towards the trust to enable it on its mission. We believe Democracy is one of the most complex forms of government and with no department today engaged in disseminating that info to the citizens, we as an org have our role to play.

If you'd like to support us, you can see the details on our website and facebook page.
