Huge response to CBI's SMS campaign in Tamilnadu & Pondicherry:


      The Anti-Corruption Bureau of the CBI has launched an SMS campaign to pin down corrupt central government employees. The campaign , launched on August 1, has already reached more than 80 lakh cell phone customers.

   Senior officials are personally attending the calls, SMSs and e-mails from the public and the campaign have got an overwhelming response. "We get around 200 calls a day from all over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, apart from around 40 text messages and and e-mails everyday. We get a lot of useful information about corrupt officials and those who have amassed wealth beyond their known sources of income . We are processing the inputs and checking their genuineness ," a senior CBI official told TOI. Both the ACB superintendent's office and intelligence wing of CBI have sent out text messages asking public to pass on information regarding corrupt government staff.

"The campaign will also educated people on who and how to contact the authorities concerned when they come across corruption," the official added. Two messages are sent out to mobile customers.


Message 1: To fight corruption, inform SP CBI, Chennai in 94447 70937 / 24916257 on demand of bribe/ corrupt practice/huge assets owned by central government servants.


Message 2: Fight against corruption: Complaints about central government offices/ banks/ public sector units. Please contact SP CBI, ACB: Call: 044-28255899 . SMS to 94440 49224 or send email to sp1acchn[at]cbi[dot]gov[dot]in .
