What is the time limitation for filing protest petition against the final report filed by police?

A protest petition is filed to protest against the conclusion reached by the police - this can be filed before the court accepts the police report and proceeds to take cognizance.

Thanks Bharat. Can you also please answer my follow up question on this.

If after filing of chargesheet, still charges have not been framed for more than a year. Will a protest petition at such a stage be considered? Is there no time limit for filing protest petition after CS is filed?
