Power of attorney

I have a property in Pune, registered on my and my wife's name and am planning to sell it. However I cannot be physically present at Pune to complete the deal. I am planning to use an existing power of attorney that my father in law has.

When I am trying to do so, I was told for sale of property POA can only be given to a blood relative. Am not 100% sure abt this rule and need some suggestions if there could be a workaround in this case. I can get additional power of attorney documents in case required but question is can my father in law sell this property based on power of attorney documents on our behalf.

Thanks
