The maxim of Boni judicis est ampliare jurisdictionem literally means “good justice is broad justice”. This simply means that it is always the duty of Law to broaden its aspects and include remedies in its justice firm. The judiciary is often restricted due to certain limitations, but it is always important to give a broader meaning to the issues raised before the Court. It is always in the hands of the Judiciary to provide remedies for offences and act accordingly.

Brij Mohan Lal v. Union of India

In this case, the honourable Court held that it is important for the Court to be in their limits of Judicial Review, but must also not forget to broaden the scope of justice. It was noted that the main aim of the maxim of Boni judicis est ampliare jurisdictionem is to provide remedial course to Law without taking jurisdiction completely in its hands.
