Hello
Recently, my mother passed away. My brother and I are trying to transfer the deed to her house in India. However, we do not live in Chennai (which is where the house is located). What steps do we need to take to get the house transferred? If we are not in india, how long will the process of getting a legal heir certificate take? Please help!

Legal heirship certificate can be obtained on an application to the Tahsildar under whose jurisdictional area your mother lived before her death. The process may take atleast 15 days.
