When in April, 2009 I was responding, I felt that inter-caste marriage is not a big issue and it is not so much a progressive though and two people love each other can easily cross over the caste barricades.
But in October, it appears to me that in India inter-caste marriage is not only highly progressive thought but a revolutionary one because, the honour killings going on in our country and the panchayats issuing phatwas to kill the brides and bride-grooms, the helpless incapacity is being shown by the police, women's commissions and the High Courts and Apex Court (they can and should take suo-moto action) and give either capital or life imprisonment to the heads of caste panchayats.
When independence dawn, our nation was imbibed with new and progressive thoughts and in these 60 years from where to where we have travelled. We institutionalised the "dynasty". Either it is politics or much adorned professional service and even in judiciary, we see the force of dynasty and bhai-bhatijawad.
I, without hope, hope for bright future for this country.
