inter caste marriages

Page no : 2

Guest (Guest)     12 October 2009

When in April, 2009 I was responding, I felt that inter-caste marriage is not a big issue and it is not so much a progressive though and two people love each other can easily cross over the caste barricades.

But in October, it appears to me that in India inter-caste marriage is not only highly progressive thought but a revolutionary one because, the honour killings going on in our country and the panchayats issuing phatwas to kill the brides and bride-grooms, the helpless incapacity is being shown by the police, women's commissions and the High Courts and Apex Court (they can and should take suo-moto action) and give either capital or life imprisonment to the heads of caste panchayats.

When independence dawn, our nation was imbibed with new and progressive thoughts and in these 60 years from where to where we have travelled.  We institutionalised the "dynasty".  Either it is politics or much adorned professional service and even in judiciary, we see the force of dynasty and bhai-bhatijawad.

I, without hope, hope for bright future for this country.

Though many state governments are providing Financial incentives to couples marrying Inter-caste but still this has not been able to stop the brutal honor killings and honor suicides done till date. Today when we are adopting change in everything from dressing style to technology then why this age old issue of caste discrimination is followed. If i say that education can change the thinking of people then also i may be wrong as i have seen even highly educated people around me who still discriminate on the basis of caste. Then what shall be the true cure for this disease of caste and class discrimination which is ruining our society and is an hindrance in the country's development.

Thanksfor your opinion, but I could be in Other States but not in Delhi...

Not right.  In Delhi also 99.99% of the marriages are held within the caste.  No part of this country came out of this caste barriers.  Only a few families in every part of the country came out of this and went for inter-caste marriages but their children are suffering from not getting any proposal due to lack of their caste identity.

Feroz M Shafeeque (Police Officer)     13 October 2009

Recent ruling that the caste of children resulting from intercaste marriage is that of father is a real blow to intercaste marriages. Children of many lower caste women married to upper caste men are suffering due to this, as they are denied many benefits offered by Government for education, employment and other things.

Surinder ji, i belongs to Chandigarh and punjab and not talking about a state,

But govt. of india has issued this sanction.

Manish Singh (Advocate)     20 October 2009

we must get together to act against it.. we must plan out something together so that at least we initiate it in a practical way... i wouls request you all the delhi advocates to please get in touch to materialise this move for the sake of our india...

Guest (Guest)     20 October 2009

Mr. Manish, suggest some practical way to collect all the like minded advocates under the same roof.

SURENDER KUMAR (TRAINEE (SERVICE TAX))     21 October 2009

Kamalji,

I am intercaste married, now tell me what should I do to get this benefit here in Delhi. The marriage was executed in Delhi in Arya Samaj Mandir.

you have to approach the local advocate or you have to approach the registrar office to get the right guidence. Coz Govt. of India has already announce this grand long back around three four year back but a very few people are aware. But practically, i have helped only two couples from punjab but they get it done through gram panchayat and and one savanye sevi sansthan. but i dont know exactly. but i just provide them a hint and they did it themself. so you have to findout the way in delhi coz presently i dont know who dipurces this amount but you can findout it from the office of registrar. else tell me then i will get it done for you.
