Inter-caste marriage

Dear sir,

I want to marry a girl who is of Brahmin caste and I'm of lower caste compared to Brahmin but her father is against the marriage. Is there any law against inter-caste marriage? Is it a crime to stand against inter-caste marriage?

@ Author,

1.
There is no Bar as per Law on inter-caste Marriages taking place in India.

2. A inter-caste marriage is to be compulsorily Registered under Special Marriages Act.

3.
There are generic social stigma attached to inter-caste marriages which with changing times may change social outlook about inter-caste marriages in India.

4. You are doing good to stand against social stigma attached to inter-caste marriages in
India.

Keep up your stand on raised issue.

And all the best in your endeavor in your own inter-caste marriage

Thank you sir for your valuable reply. Can I file a case against her father for caste-discrimination? Her father is against our marriage. Is that a crime? Can I relate inter-caste marriage with section 153A of IPC based on caste-discrimination?

Both of can do marriage if major, This is not crime, But I will advice you. Hwo support both of you in both families. talk to them and as well as possible do marriage with consent of parents.

OR

You may do marriage before Marriage Registrar.

OR

In Arya Samaj Mandir in presence of witness.

After this you may produce application in court for protection.
