Housing society chairman resignation

I am chairman of coperative housing society for last 3years out of 5 years, i want to resign from the post of chairman ,what procedure should I follow

The Chairman of the Society may resign his office as Chairman by a letter addressed to the Secretary of the Society. It will be effective only after its acceptance and handing over charges to newly elected chairman. The committee may accept the resignation only if it satisfied that chairman have entrusted all the work and had produced all papers and property of society in his possession before the committee.
