We have a Welfare association registered in 2011 under Socities registration act 1860, Would like to check if it is mandatory for us to re-register ourselves as par new societies registration act of 2012.
I have been receiving contradictory versions from various people for same. I browsed through the opinions shared by expert in link, where some experts have mentioned that it is mandatory for existing socities to reregister, whereas some mentioned it may not be required.

In case registration is mandatory, does this imply society will loose its registration status if not registered by 30th June ?
Further we also have elections due for our society due, in this case do we have to first register our society and then conduct elections or is there a provision of late submission with penality.
