Filing property return

hello sir/madam

i am i central govt. employee & working in the department since 20 years & during filing the annual property return, i have never described about my ancestral property(agricultural land). now my family have sold our ancestral property & i was thinking to intimate my higher officials regarding sale of my ancestral property & benefits gained by me by selling this property. my question is that would it be illegal if i am intimating about selling a property regarding which i have never described to my department? kindly reply...

regards

If you have not informed it was a wrong as per the law. But by not informing you will be doing a wrong again.

It is better to infrom them that you had not informed and now you are informing them about the past as well as the current sale.

Since it is your ancestral property and you have not got it by some other means, there is no legal or criminal problem.

Such mistakes do not have big penalties. But do inform now so that future problems would not occur.
