The matrimonial sites can be legally taken action against for sharing fake profiles. Matrimonial sites are considered "intermediaries" under the Information Technology Act, 2000. This means they are responsible for the content hosted on their platform, including fake profiles. They have a duty to implement measures like "Know Your Customer" (KYC) procedures to verify the legitimacy of profiles. If a matrimonial site fails to do so and facilitates fraud, it can be held liable.
Many matrimonial sites have reporting mechanisms in place to flag fake profiles. If a user suspects a profile is fake, they can report it to the site.
Individuals can also file online complaints about such offenses on the national cybercrime reporting portal (cybercrime.gov.in).

Generally matrimonial sites do not verify contents of profile of individuals registered with them. Besides this, such sites publish their disclaimer before hand, which are to be considered before acceptance / registration.
What is the correlation of "matrimonial fraud" with "financial fraud" in a matrimonial site to sue its (site) administrator(s) as mentioned by you?

Is it a paid service or a free service? One can take action only if it is a paid service.
