Oci card from uk

My Grandparents and my parents were born in punjab, India, I was born in Malasia and have lived in UK since 1962

I want to apply for a OCI card, but my brother will not give me PIO that belongs to my father or his OCI number to be able to prove that my father was born in punjab

I have a copy of his passport, I have original copy of Farad, my father was born in 1927, so no birth cerficate.

How can I find out from his villiage etc proof that eithe my grandfather and my father were born in Punjab India

You can consult an advocate or a consultant hailing from the place of your native in Punjab state and give him the details to locate the particulars you desire to enable you to get OCI.  What were you doing since five decades or more and what was the reason for your silence on this aspect. If you are interested to visit India you can always do so by visit visa but at the present stage you want the property left behind by your ancesters hence you are looking for this privilege.

However you should understand that your borhter is notr an autghority and he cannot legfally stop you from getting OCI card, you may have to provide the details obtained from your sources if he is not responding to your request.

It is better to consult a local (Punjab) lawyer.

Hi T. Kalaiselvan,
Thank you for your reply, you asked what was i doing since last 5 decades, i was working hard as a single mum to bring up 3 children and was in difficult times for me financially, thankfully my children are now universerty graduates in very high jobs.

I am nearly 70 and hoping to retire soon and would love to visit India more often and can afford to

My brother has my father's PIO card and refuses to let me use it, that is the problem

I have found out that i can use a Nativity form and do realise this has to be done in India, maybe you can give futher info

To obtain an OCI card as an Indian origin foreign citizen without relatives in India, you need to demonstrate your Indian origin through various documents and meet specific eligibility criteriaYou'll apply online and submit the required documents to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

You must prove that you or your parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents were either citizens of India at the time of the Constitution's commencement, belonged to a territory that became part of India after August 15, 1947, or were Indian citizens on or after January 26, 1950.

Submit copies of passports, domicile certificates, birth certificates, or other documents proving your Indian lineage.

You may contact or consult any agency doing this job for you either in your country or in India to progress the matter accordinlgy.

I do have lots of relatives in India and I have always applied for an e-visa no problem, I am going to apply for a 5 year visa, I live in UK

I don't have any of my parents domicile certificates, birth certificates, or other documents proving your Indian lineage. I only have my father's Bristish passport, which says he was born in Punjab India

My brother has the only proof - PIO Card, I don't what else he may have

If your father's British passport states that he was born in Punjab in  India, that can be added as additional proof from your side to establish your Indian connections, besides your relatives's evidences.

You can very well get the OCI card if you approach a proper consultant who will be able to navigate through and get the desired OCI card by procuring the required  documentary evidences.
