How to maintain a happy healthy marriage....

•1

Compromise.  The key to any relationship is this, compromise. Many don't know how to or understand the true meaning. In short, it means to blend differences, to come together, to be pliable. Some people don't get that, they want it their way or no way, that can cause a problem and in all actuality it does. Many people leave spouses who are too rigid and not flexible. everyone has needs and wants, if you come together and compromise, you are making the first step to a successful relationship and in a marriage it is essential.

•2

Try a little romance. Have a date night, have a candle light dinner once in a while.

it's important that you both come together as a man and woman, not just as a mom and dad or husband and wife. Forget the roles. Rekindling the passion comes from intimacy. Create that intimacy with quality time alone.

•3

Have your own interests. Happy couples is a couple who can still maintain what they enjoy, separately. If they go bowling or fishing one night and you go to see a flick or take a pilates class another, that's great. You find your own individuality within the relationship, you do not lose yourself. A lot of people tend to lose themsleves when they settle into a relationship that is how resentment surfaces and frustrations and bitterness. When you focus on yourself and do what makes you feel good, you can be a better person, happy and heathier.

One should always maintain their identify and take up hobbies they pursued before they married. Don't lose yourself, be about you as well as your focus on the relationship.

•4

Surround yourself with people who are happy. Steer clear of people who are having trouble in their marriages.

•5

Respect one another's need for time alone. We all need to be left alone once in a while. Just as you like to go off for a bit to walk or read or get a hair cut or take a drive, so does your partner. No-one should be held as a possession.

•6

Be affectionate. one could feel like they are on a deserted island if no attention or affection is displayed. make sure, everyday, give a hug or kiss, hold hands, touch is important.

•7

Encourage eachother. IF you want to go to school, raise a family, adopt a pet, work for charity, live out any dream or goal, you should be encouraged to do so.

•8

Realize superficial things do not matter. This means, do not fight over money. people divorce because of money, what a waste. People married over 10 years, lose eachother over Money-how absurd is that?

•9

Be Supportive.

•10

Balance. If they are getting anxious about something, be the calm one, maintain a balance here you can assist them to see things more clear and put things into perspective.
