Mere salutes are not enough, they will be a big hypocricisy and disrespect to the spirit of all inocent people who die defenseless at hands of criminals. Did anyone ever think, if even 10% of the victims would have been armed(and not disarmed by Arms Act), the matter would have been over in matter of minutes. Let us take it off our minds that police can protect us at all times and everywhere. Everywhere in the world, during such kind of massacares, the uniformed police is the first target because they are clearly identifiable due to their uniforms. Due to the same reason policemen are the first to run from scene and hide. It is only the citizens who are the first line of defense anywhere, police comes a lot later when the act of crime is usually over. Fight for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms in India. RKBA was seperately enumerated as a guaranteed fundamental right in our draft Constitution and it is still there in Article 21. I would like to quote from Gita, which also talks about the human right of RKBA of people, which translated into English would roughly mean:

"The State that protects the nation and its people with arms, only there the people can talk about arms"

And the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in the Bill of Rights(on which the basic structure and doctrine of the Part III of our Constitution is based) says:

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

The basic structure and doctrine conveyed by both the quote from the Gita and the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is essentially the same, which is also reflected in the Part III of our Constitution. To understand how RKBA is still guaranteed as a fundamental right under Article 21 of our Constitution, a detailed discussion has been done at https://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=11595&p=117785#p117785
