Civil marriage in partial absencia

Hello,

I had a question and would be really thankful if someone could let me know the correct answer:

I got married to my husband last year, and we had a proper ceremony in a temple with all family involved. I live in the US and my husband is currently in Pune.

As I am processing his paperwork, I need a marriage certificate. My question was: Can a civil marriage be registered in the presence of one spouse only, where either a husband or wife is absent? or do we both have to present physically?

Please advice.

Thanks and regards.

Both need to be present.

  1. Application To Be Made In The Prescribed Form Duly Signed By Husband & Wife
  2. Marriage Should Have Taken Any Place In The India And Both Should Be Living Together In Marriage Officer Jurisdiction
  3. Under U/S 16 Of Special Marriage, Application Should Be Given In 30 Days Advance.
  4. Residential Proof Of Both Should Be Attached With Application
