Dear Experts,
Thanks for this platform to share our concerns and seek advice. I am from Hyderabad, residing in an apartment. The apartment welfare association is discriminating me for seeking information and blocked my access to our apartment App and not responding to emails.
The background is - the association decided to collect Corpus fund of Rs. 12000 in early 2017 and gave an offer of paying Rs.11000 (1000 rupees less) if one is paying in lump sum and set a cut-off date of 10-Apr-2017. The communication happened through word of mouth and not official. I being on travel job and in US at that time, I was not aware about the 10-Apr cut off and paid my portion of Rs.11000 on 29-Apr-2017. Things were good till end of the year. Early 2018, there is a due of Rs.1000 posted on my App account. By using my App account, I raised an issue under “data correction” category. Right after a month, association responded saying that I was late in my payment and hence the due is. But without communication, how do I know the due date, especially when I am on travel. For some reason association trying hard to close the ticket, which I didn’t accept until the resolution is made. They asked me to contact on an email, which I did and asked them to share the communication that was sent about the cut-off date for offer and not applicability of the offer for payments post due date. I had followed-up thrice. As I am doing so, my polite requests had been named as “spam” by threatening of locking my App account, which they did finally. They are not responding on emails and also locked my account. App is the only media of getting the general notifications/maintenance alerts/news.
My questions:
1. Where is the communication of corpus fund, its due dates and sub sequent consequences of late payments?
2. When I paid late (from their view), can’t I be informed about the non-applicability of offer (not a specific message though, at least a group communication)? - If that’s the case, why do I pay excess and in-advance. I can as well save interest.
3. Is it not my privilege to ask for the communication, if they really sent and I missed?
4. How come one can lock my access of getting my community information (app being the only source)?
5. How come a responsible association can use abusing language and threaten the residents for seeking data?
