How to obtain proof of delivery of registered/speed post

Dear All

around 4 months back, I had written a letter to DC ( Deputy Commissioner) regarding some complaint. After four month, when I did follow up in his office, then office staff flately told that they did not recive my letter, even I had shown them slip of speed post,  I had checked on internet on spped post tracking, but there was no such record.

In this regard, I have certain queries :

what is the valid proof of delivery of registered / speed post ?

Whether slip give by post office is proof  of sending / delivery of speed/registered post?

Is there any certificate / document issued by postal department for confirmation of  valid proof of delivery of registered/speed post? If it is so then what is the procedure to obtain that proof of delivery from post office?

What sort of proof of delivery of speed / registered post is accepted in Indian court of law?

All are requested to give your valuable suggestion in this regards, especially pertaining to Indian evidence act-1872.

Thanks and regards

Rajeev

It is felt that the Speed post record is kept for 3 months and Redg. Post for 8 months.

If the concerned PO from which sped post was booked and PO which delivered speed post has maintained any record it can pass on to you.

The process is that the customer may submit a written request with copy of receipt of sped post/redg. post for POD:

--For Speed Post: by affixing postage stamps of Rs.10/ and the Area manager of speed post centre can provide internet generated report under seal and signature, confirming delivery.

Another report you can ask for is certified copy of the run sheet carried by postman on which postman obtains signature and seal from office where cover is delivered.

---For Redg. post: Sub postmaster/postmaster can provide internet generated report under seal and signature, confirming delivery, without any fee.

By affixing postage stamps of Rs.10/ for certified copy of the run sheet carried by postman on which postman obtains signature and seal from office where cover is delivered

You may gently peruse with concerned staff of the PO from which you had booked cover as they have phone numbers of all PO and can call them and confirm the availability of the record.

You may try by pursuing thru RTI route.

The receipt of speed post is treated as valid proof.

Valuable advice of learned experts/members is sought.

Kumar ji

Namaskar!!

Thanks for your valuable advice. Whether  I can seek, the proof of delivery through post rather than personal contact?

As limit of 3 months is over there is no matter of right. Therefore it is felt that it shall be better thru personal contact.

The idea is to develop personal rapport with some employee in o/o Area Manager Speed Post.

Since they are in superior office the staff in concerned PO shall abide by their directions and if the record is available they will confirm on phone and oblige the staff in o/o Area Manager or Area Manager himself.

If you know the Area Manager yourself or thru acquaintance it may help.

Kumar ji

If there is no record after 3 months then PIO may not get any info.

However at the website:

www.indiapost.gov.in

You will get the contact details and others.

You may check at your end and proceed as deemed fit.
