Senior citizens act 2007

Respected Sir,

I am fighting civil case against a statutory body who want to grab our property. I am 68 years of age. Cases are filed in the Munsiff Court, Thrissur, Kerala. I fear for my life and property.

Being a senior citizen can I ask the District collector for protection of property and life under the Senior Citizens Act 2007.

Whom should I address my concern and whether I will get any redressal or refused since case is already pending in civil suit?

Whether my petition be heard by the concerned officials?

Regards

P Pradeep Kumar

If there is a threat for your life and property you can give a complaint to the police instead of approaching collector because you have already approached court for some relief.

In India, the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 is a law that protects the property rights of senior citizens. Here are some key provisions: 1. *Right to property*: Senior citizens have the right to own, possess, and manage their property. 2. *Protection from eviction*: Senior citizens cannot be evicted from their property without their consent. 3. *Transfer of property*: Senior citizens have the right to transfer their property to anyone they choose. 4. *Maintenance and welfare*: Children and relatives are obligated to maintain and support senior citizens, including providing food, clothing, and medical care. 5. *Property dispute resolution*: The Act provides for a speedy and simple process to resolve property disputes involving senior citizens. 6. *Penalties for mistreatment*: The Act imposes penalties for mistreating or neglecting senior citizens, including fines and imprisonment. Additionally, the law also provides for: - *Easy transfer of property*: Simplified procedures for transferring property in favor of senior citizens. - *Protection from fraud*: Protection from fraudulent activities, such as cheating or coercing senior citizens into transferring their property. Overall, the law aims to safeguard the property rights and interests of senior citizens, ensuring their well-being and dignity.
