Preliminary evidence in criminal defamation complaint

Dear Experts, I am a new member of this forum. Kindly spare your time to answer my query:

My parents were acquitted u/s 498A & 406, I was acquitted u/s 406 BUT Convicted u/s 498a for 1 year sentence. from sessions court also.  I was ACQUITTED by High Court, till then I had already spent 2.5 months in jail.

Now I filed Criminal as well civil defamation complaints in court against the other party.

Now In my Criminal Defamation case I am to give statements as Preliminary Evidence. I want to know that what is a preliminary evidence and exactly what should I say in court so that Statements should be effective? Kindly advice.

Regards

skumar
