Possession of ancestral property

Case - Two brothers and their father live in a house which was owned by grand father which died 30 yrs back. Father also has an elder daughter living in US.It is an ancestral property and father has given his share of will to his younger son. The younger son will occupy the 50% area(1st two floors) after father's death. The other Elder son too has 50% area( other 2 floors). The Elder daughter also has a equal share acc. to ancestral rules.

Does possession of ancestral property have any value to fight a case with the elder daughter?
The elder brother doesnot want to give the 50% share .

If the property of the grand father was his self acquired property then this property shall devolve to all his " legal heir "  if he died intestate.
