Lost original mother document

I am going to purchase a Plot for which Mother document was missed. The missed document registration was done in 1988. After 1988 transaction, 4 more transactions has been done till now. So could you please suggest what is the process to follow to purchase a plot which don’t have mother document but remaining originals are available up to date?
