Legal maxim

What is the meaning of the legal maxim 'Ubi jus ibi remedium'? Also, are there any landmark cases which are based on this maxim?

‘Ubi jus ibi remedium’ is a latin maxim which means where there is a right there is a remedy. The word  ‘Jus’ means the legal authority to do or demand something, and  the word ‘remedium’ means the right of action in a Court of law. The literal meaning of this maxim is that whenever there is a legal right, there is a legal remedy. It also means that there is no wrong without a remedy.

landmark cases based on this maxim-

1. Sardar Amarjit Singh Kalra v. Promod Gupta & Ors.

2. Ashby vs White

3. D.K. Basu v. State of West Bengal

4. Bhim Singh v. State of Jammu & Kashmir

5. Shivkumar Chadha v. Municipal Corporation of Delhi

How sweet , when a member comes to the forum to learn something, instead of turning him out discouraging him, providing basic inputs welcoming him to the forum !!!

A good tutorial class conducted by Ms. Pooja Gahlot despite the fact that it is a site meant for needy litigants.
