Hi there, my question is how safe is notorized document rather than getting it registered? I am having a showroom space for letting, the proposed tenant is looking for only agrement on stamp paper rather than getting it registered. Is it safe and legal in long run.

If it for period of 11 months there is no need for registration and if it is for longer duration registration is mandatory.  To be on the safe side you can get it registered.

If it is for more than 11 months it must be registered. Some local rent laws make registration mandatory irrespective of duration. Hence check the local rent law.

Hi,


If u have pay Stamp duty @ 2% of the total rent of One year, on that case u have to registerred ur rent Agreement at concerned Registrar office, otherwise If u have Paid Rs.50/- or 100/- as per the Rent Control Act, which is specfiy as per State, on that case u can Notarised that Rent Agreement, But in future, when u go to Court for vacant ur permises, on that time u have to pay some penality, whichever u have not paid Stamp Duty @2% on the Total rent of One year.
