Is gross salary can be taken as basic wages

Hi Friends

Can any body clear my query:

My query is whether it is possible that if an employees joins for an Gross Salary of Rs. 8000, 6700 and 7000 P.M.  The salary structure can be taken as total Basic Wages i.e., Basic Wages is 8000, 6700 and 7000. Where Gross Salary = Basic Wages?

As I need to clarify that one of my Frd's company HR as made salary statement by showin 3 employees who are new joinees Gross salaries are Rs. 8000,6700 and 7000 and he had not deducted PF contribution for these 3 New Joinees. and he had Shown These Wages in Basic Wages.

And HR query is that Basic is more than Rs. 6500/- and hence the will and wish of Employee's PF contribution not deducted.

As my Friend who is in Accounts Dept. as raised comment that there is no PF contribution deducted for these 3 members when the salary part for payment purpose.

And my Friend complained to the director and HR Mgr regarding this issue.  As the Director as supported the HR and asked my friend show the ACT or Law that the salary of Gross Basic cannot  be taken as a Basic Wages.

Hence I need my friend's Query to be fulfilled that at what extent components to be followed and what are the salary structures to be followd for PF.  I need Authenticate document to be produced in front my Frd's company.

GROSS     SALARY=  BASLC  SALARY  +  DAILY  ALLOWANCE

Dear Rao,

You first need to know the difference between gross salary and basic salary. Basic salary is the salary without adding other perks and allowances admissible on the paost.
