I. tax appeal

The I.tax Officer has sent notice of demand u/s.156 of the I.T.Act 1961.

We filed Appeal in time before Commissioner of I.T. Appeal.

But yesterday the  I.T.O. has sent me another notice asking to pay the whole dues or he thretened to  take all corceive actions against me to recover that amounr by saying "mere filling of apeeal, if any, before the Appellate Authority does not mean that the demand raised should not be paid".

Kindly guide how to stop him till decesion of the Appeal ?

Regards

You cannot. You have to pay the demand first. Once your appeal is allowed, you can obtain the refund with interest from the date of payment. You can request the ITO to reduce the demand by 50% so that you can pay the demand and wait for your appeal to be decided.

Request for interim or final stay before comm. For recovery proceeding till the appeal not decided.
