What is your query?

Have you made the complaint to the police?

While the police can help trace a lost or stolen mobile phone, success isn't guaranteed and depends on various factors

They can utilize the IMEI number and work with service providers to track the phone's location, but this is often a lengthy process and results are not always positive.

yes,I made complaint, but since mobile is not forcefully stolen they reluctant to take complaint

query is same, what are charges put against person having my mobile

Dr. J C Vashista (Advocate )     28 July 2025

If the police did not accept your complaint you may send it through post and retain postal receipt and tracking report. After a couple of  days move to higher police officers of the SHO. Even then if  no action is taken move criminal complaint u/s 200 Cr PC before area Magistrate through a local prudent lawyer.

To address the issue of your lost mobile and potential misuse, consider the following steps:

Blocking Stolen Phone's IMEI 1. *File a police report*: Obtain a copy of the report, as it's required for further actions.

 2. *Get a duplicate SIM card*: Request a duplicate SIM from your telecom service provider.

 3. *Block IMEI*: Submit a request to block your phone's IMEI through the CEIR website or state police.

Relevant IPC Sections - *Section 403*: Dishonest misappropriation of property. If someone misuses your phone, they might be liable under this section, with punishment extending up to two years or fine or both.

Additional Measures - *Monitor location*: If the thief enables location services, try to track your phone. - *Change passwords*: Update passwords for sensitive accounts to prevent unauthorized access. -

*Contact authorities*: Inform your network provider and law enforcement agencies about the stolen phone.

why unbelievable

If the person is using your mobile, then police can trace it.

Instead of filing FIR, register a complaint on CEIR portal. It will provide you details of which sim card is presently being used and police can locate location accordingly
