Hyderabad, police tracking of lost mobile

basically in short police is insisting to track mobile thru ceir portal,I have exact location and time of person but cctv access not possible without help of police

monday my mobile got dropped from pocket around 5:30 pm,3 lane near to madhapur ps

I tracked location using google find my device, found that its hostel around 6:15

around 1 hr I asked many shop owner on road for cctv as I know police will take time and difficult to explain them all things

'my mobile made on by 1 am night in IT park ,which was raidurgam police sttaion

I immediatly moved to madhapur police station but its almost vacant with only 2 police, they said sho will come tomrrow ,I moved to IT park, they said cctv tomrrow ,same time I gone to raiduragam police station ,the attende said call 100

at night 3 am I recharged my mobile after asking many people clled 100 he said its for emergence service only

I again moved to raidurgam but police person was not able to help me telling reasons like gps is not pinpointed etc,I shown him

it was 6 am morning,I gone home and slept, evening I gone to madhapur ps,explained ,shown them google maps pinpoint location ,they again told me to put ceir complaint ,they told me to come one today 10 am and give constable with me

I today gone ,waited for around 1 hr,special officer come, even I explained him abt pinpointing,he said if u r that smart join police force and denied help

1) can I put writ in high court? but will police try to backbite me?

2) can I ask compensation to police for inaction and negeligence? since recording in PS its they themselves not like and many contradicting judgements for same ,difficult to produce evidence

3) is there way I can pinpoint person

I know he stay in hostel

I know he works on night shift

he stil keeping cell in it company drawer from last 3 days

he is trying to reset password of my indian postal banking

1. Can you file a writ in the High Court?

Yes, you can file a writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution if you believe your fundamental rights (like the right to property or right to be heard) are being violated due to police inaction. A writ of mandamus could compel the police to act. However, courts expect you to exhaust regular remedies first—like filing a formal complaint and following up through proper channels. If you do file a writ, make sure you document all your efforts: dates, locations, screenshots, and interactions with police. As for retaliation or “backbiting,” it’s rare, but you can request protection or anonymity in your petition if you're concerned.

2. Can you seek compensation for police negligence?

This is tricky. While compensation for negligence by public authorities is possible, it’s not common unless there’s clear evidence of willful neglect or violation of duty. Courts have awarded compensation in cases of gross inaction, but you’d need strong documentation and ideally legal representation. You might also consider filing a complaint with the State Human Rights Commission or Police Complaints Authority if you feel mistreated.

3. Can you pinpoint the person?

You’ve gathered impressive intel—location, time, and even workplace habits. But legally identifying and confronting someone without police involvement is risky. You could share this info with police and request they investigate under suspicion of theft or unauthorized access. If you have proof of attempts to reset your banking password, that could be cybercrime, and you can file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930. You might also try contacting the IT company’s security team discreetly if you know where the phone is being kept.

The CEIR portal is your best bet for blocking and tracking the phone officially. Hyderabad police have recovered thousands of phones using it2. If you haven’t already, file your CEIR complaint and keep the IMEI number handy.

well said

 1) all work place habits shared, even he is charging my mobile right now,but police just saying,if u think u r smart, join police force

2) cyber crime idea is good, but one of my colegue had similer situation ,police said just reset attempt made, not even password is chnaged, nor money so its small issue

did that, they give excuse like gps is inaccurate etc ,30000 employess in buildig

CEIR is done but its lengthy and depend on person putting new sim in mobile, till that I hav to buy another handset ,again it depend on when police wil track sim ,it may happen he sell mobile ,goes out of state and police again take time to trasnfer complaint, here location is just 1.5km

no idea my english is bad ,but police dont want to listen or I cant explain propelry

I dont know how but but he is still using my handset without changing sim
