Steps to Complete the GST Registration Process

  • Step 1: Visit the GST Portal: Go to the official GST Portal (www.gst.gov.in).
  • Step 2: Click on 'Register Now': Under the 'Taxpayers' section, select the option to register.
  • Step 3: Fill Part A of the Application: Enter basic details like PAN, email, and mobile number to generate an OTP and verify the information.
  • Step 4: Receive the Temporary Reference Number (TRN): After successful verification, you will receive a TRN to proceed.
  • Step 5: Fill Part B of the Application: Use the TRN to log in and complete the application by providing business details, proof of address, bank account details, and required documents.
  • Step 6: Submit the Application: Sign the application using a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) or Electronic Verification Code (EVC).
  • Step 7: Receive Application Reference Number (ARN): After submission, an ARN is issued for tracking the application status.
  • Step 8: Verification and Approval: The tax authorities verify the application and documents. Upon approval, a 15-digit GSTIN is allocated.
  • Step 9: Download the GST Certificate: Once approved, download the GST certificate (Form GST REG-06) from the portal.

I went through a similar process some time back, and honestly the documentation + portal steps were a bit confusing for me too.
