Gift deed - stamp duty and registration

Hello,

My mother is gifting me (thru gift deed)

1 jewellery (worth 7 lakhs)

2. Share in Demat form valued above 10Lakhs

My query:

- Will she need to pay stamp duty for both 1 and 2 and if so what will be the rate if  in maharashtra

- Also should both the gift deeds be registered ?

thanks

milind

Yes both are to be registered. Consult and engage a local lawyer.

The gift deed executed should be registered as far as the conveyance/transfer of the immovable  properties are concerned, it may not be so for the jewels or cash or share certificates.
